Celebrate the Season with CALEC: Event Recaps, Upcoming Publications, and our Holiday Gift Guide
December 2025
Winter is fast approaching, and the team at the Center for the Advancement of Languages, Education and Communities (CALEC) is excited to share what we have been up to as well as a few fun things we have planned for the season.
Events
CALEC at the Festival d’Hiver and Book Fair at Smith Street Maternelle in Brooklyn
On Saturday December 6th 2025, CALEC had the pleasure of attending the Smith Street Maternelle’s Festival d’Hiver and Book Fair.
It was a joy interacting with students and parents, and welcoming CALEC author Karine Cohen-Dicker for a reading of her book, Biscotte et le nouveau.
CALEC joins the Comité des Associations Françaises
We are excited to announce that CALEC has joined the Comité des Associations Françaises et de langue française de New York (CAFUSA).
As a new member, CALEC was proud to attend the year-end celebration hosted at the Consulate of France in New York on December 11, 2025.
CALEC at the Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse
From November 26 to December 1, 2025, our France-based team participated in the Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse in Montreuil. It was an enriching experience that allowed us to make new connections and introduce a wider audience to the work of our talented authors and editors. We showcased our catalog of more than 250 titles from TBR Books and CALEC Éditions, featuring multilingual children’s literature as well as works focused on bilingualism, education, and cultural history.
